Today the problem of plastic pollution has become a big challenge facing the whole world. To combat this, many countries have banned plastics. In addition, scientists around the world are developing a variety of technologies that can be reused. Teva has built a three-seater bench at the University of Puducherry out of plastic waste.
- A three-seater chair, i.e. a bench, was constructed from plastic waste
- The bench was launched in a two-day workshop
- This discovery really plays an important role in getting rid of plastic waste
Plastic items are being used haphazardly in today’s age – such as plastic bottles, wrappers, straws, carry bags, etc. People use it and throw it away. Plastic is very harmful to the environment, as it takes many years for it to be destroyed. Toxic chemicals in plastics can alter human hormones. It also pollutes the water and endangers the life of marine life. Recycling is one of the biggest ways to prevent plastic pollution. The Center for Pollution Control and Environmental Engineering (CPCEE), located at the University of Puducherry, has constructed a three-seater chair, a bench, out of plastic waste.
CPCEE has used plastic waste such as bottles, wrappers, curry bags, straw, brushes, covers etc. in the production of this bench. What is special is that this waste was collected from the university campus. In addition to plastic waste, the bench is made using multi-layer packaging and sand. CPCEE and Metro Group companies worked together for the experiment. Engineers first collected the waste and separated the plastic waste from it. He then pelted it after washing and finally used the thermal principle for the production of the bench. CPCEE engineers say that this type of recycling plastic has a longer lifespan and emits less pollution into the ocean.
The bench was recently launched at a two-day workshop organized by CPCEE and Rajiv Gandhi National Ministry of Youth Development and Sports. The topic of Sustainable Development and Protecting the Environment was discussed during the workshop. However, this discovery could actually play an important role in getting rid of plastic waste.
