MUMBAI: In the 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) played here today, Jose Butler’s aggressive century and Devdutt Paddikal’s 97 as well as 67-run partnership with Sanju Samson helped Rajasthan Royals score 218 runs against Mukella Kolkata Knight Riders and Shreyas Airo. However, in the final over, Rajasthan Royals won by 7 runs after being bowled out for 210 in the fourth over.
The Kolkata Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine’s wicket just before he could reach the target. However, Aaron Finch and Shreyas Iyer then put together 107 runs in 9 overs. Finch was dismissed for 58 off 28 balls with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes. After that Nitish Rana was dismissed for 148 and Andre Russell was dismissed for zero as KKR were 149 for 4. Venkatesh Iyer failed once again. Iyer was dismissed for 85 off 51 balls with the help of 7 fours and 4 sixes when the team’s score was 180 runs. Shivam Mavi was also dismissed on the same score and Pat Cummins was also dismissed as Yuzvendra Chahal took a total of four wickets in his final over, including a hat-trick. Umesh Yadav thrashed Bolt by 20 runs in a single over, although Obaid McCoy picked up two wickets in the final over to give Rajasthan a 7-run victory.
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Rajasthan Royals got off to a strong start with Butler and Paddikal sharing a 97-run stand for the first wicket. Paddickal was dismissed for 24 off 18 balls. Samson then joined Butler. Butler’s aggression, however, made no difference even after that and he continued to hit the KKR bowlers. The team’s score was 164 when Sanju Samson was dismissed for 38 off 19 balls. When the score reached 183 in the 17th over, Butler was dismissed for 103 off 61 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Rajasthan then lost the wickets of Ryan Parag and Karun Nair. Shimron Hetmeyer was not out for 26 off 13 balls. From KKR, Sunil Narine took 2 wickets while Shivam Mavi, Pat Cummins and Andre Russell took 1-1 wickets. The team’s star bowler Umesh Yadav gave up 44 runs in 4 overs and did not get a single wicket.
