The department has arrested four people in the case and started interrogation. It may be mentioned here that the DRI department had earlier received information that many jewelers in Surat city were selling smuggled gold. Due to which the department became active and the search for such people had been going on for many days. Meanwhile, based on the information received by the department, action was taken in a showroom on Long Hanuman Road on Thursday. Jewelers could not produce 15.50 kg gold bill here. This gold was imported from abroad and duty was not paid on it. Currently the department has started interrogating 4 people. The department believes that gold has been brought to Surat by stealing duty from different cities.
