Bore-faced lies
KEIR Starmer likes to pose as a beacon of integrity, possibly as it’s the only way he can make an asset of his chronic dullness.
But recent weeks have exposed the hollowness of this charade.
Starmer is using Boris’ Partygate defence playbook to deflect from his own scandal[/caption]
The Labour leader professed outrage at every step of Boris Johnson’s Partygate defence, yet now uses the same playbook to deflect his own “Beergate” scandal.
Claims his No2 Angela Rayner was at the same event were high-handedly dismissed, until the cat was dragged out of the bag. Sir Keir laughably now claims his party was “too busy” to tell the truth.
Then there is Ms Rayner’s attempt to weaponise outrage at Tory MPs and the media just for reporting her own crass story of leg-flashing in the Commons.
Sir Keir now insists Labour not fielding local election candidates in swathes of the country to give the Lib Dems a free run and vice-versa is not a pact. Got any magic beans to sell, Sir Keir?

Meanwhile, ex-high priest of spin Alastair Campbell advises Starmer to convince voters he is not a Remainer elitist out of touch with Sun readers.
Even Labour diehards might struggle to keep a straight face with that one.
Protest too much
THIS Thursday’s local elections are predicted to see a surge in protest votes aimed at giving No10 a wake-up call.
But with the cost-of-living crisis tightening its grip, could households switching from the Tories be cutting off their nose to spite Boris’s face?
While the national party seems to have lost sight of its low-tax roots, the PM is right to highlight that at local level, Conservative administrations tend to be more resistant to council tax hikes than free-spending Labour or Lib Dem.
When it comes to these local elections, there’s no such thing as a “free hit”.
Lives on pause
DAVINA McCall’s revelation that one in ten menopausal women is driven to quit their job is a real eye-opener.
The TV presenter, no shrinking violet, says she herself was too embarrassed to tell colleagues about the “brain fog” that left her struggling to read an autocue.
Amid a national HRT shortage, Davina explodes the myth that this is just a few inconvenient hot flushes — the Change can devastate careers and entire lives.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid must defuse this timebomb urgently.

No poultry sum
CHICKEN feed, once used to symbolise a tiny amount of money, is soaring in price after the invasion of key supplier Ukraine.
A global potato shortage means “cheap as chips” is out too, so we need a new metaphor for something inexpensive.
The problem is, we can’t think of anything these days that’s NOT dearer.
