Navi Mumbai: Mitchell Marsh’s half-century and Sarfaraz Khan’s 32-run innings off 16 balls helped the Punjab Kings reach 142 for 9 against the Delhi Capitals after losing the wicket of David Warner in the 64th league match played here on Monday. The Delhi Capitals won by 17 runs.
The Punjab Kings started chasing the target in an aggressive manner but then lost 6 wickets for 67 runs. After that Jitesh Sharma batted aggressively and raised hopes of victory but his hopes were dashed when he was dismissed and at the end of 20 overs Punjab could only reach 142 for 9. For Delhi, Shardul Thakur took 4 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel took 2 wickets each.
After the Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to field, the Delhi Capitals lost Warner’s wicket just before the first innings. However, Sarfaraz Khan and Mitchell Marsh, who came down in the opening over, put on 51 runs in just 5 overs. Sarfaraz was dismissed for 32 off 16 balls. Marsh then shared a 47-run stand with Lalit Yadav. However, as Delhi lost wickets of Lalit Yadav, Rishabh Pant and Rowman Powell in the near future, their score was 112 for 5. Marsh then took control of his batting to take the score closer to 150 when he was dismissed for 63 off 48 balls and at the end of 20 overs the Delhi Capitals could only manage 159 for 7.
