New Delhi: For the second time this year, 16-year-old Indian Grandmaster Pragyananda Rameshprabhu has achieved great things in the field of chess. Chennai’s Pragyanand won the prestigious Grandmaster title in 2018. Pragyanand has once again defeated the World No. 1 Chess Master in three months. Pragyanand is the youngest player in India to achieve Grandmaster and the second youngest player in the world.
Pragyanand defeated Carlson twice in three months
Pragyanand has defeated Magnus Carlsen in a world class chess match called Chessball Masters. In the fifth round of the Chessball Masters, Norway’s Carlos made a big mistake which Pragyanand took advantage of and won in his name. With this win, Pragyanand has maintained his hopes of reaching the knockout stage of the online rapid chess tournament. Let me tell you, this is not the first time that Pragyananda has defeated Magnus Carlson. Prior to this, Pragyanand had beaten world champion Carlson for the first time in the online rapid chess tournament Earthing Masters on February 21, and three months later he repeated the history by beating Carlson again. Which is a matter of pride for the country.
Carlson lost because of this mistake
Pragyanand and Carlson clashed in the fifth round of the tournament. The prize money was 150 thousand US dollars or 1.16 crore rupees. The match was initially heading towards a draw but Carlos made a big mistake in the 40th move. Carlos had put his black horse in the wrong place. After this the Indian player Pragyanand did not give him a chance to return and suddenly Carlos had to face defeat. After winning the match due to Carlson’s mistake, Pragyanand said that he did not want to win the match this way.
Who is in first place in this tournament?
Carlson is currently in second place after the second day of the Chessball Masters tournament. China’s Wei Yi is in first place in this tournament. Along with this Pragyananda has 12 points. The world’s youngest Grandmaster Abhimanyu Mishra is also a part of this tournament. 16 players have participated in this tournament.
Let me tell you that the youngest player of this tournament is Pragyanand. Earlier in the tournament, the two players had clashed three times and Carlos had won all three. But in the fourth match, Pragyananda won. After one defeat, Carlson avenged the previous defeat by beating Pragyananda 3-0 in the Oslo E Sports Cup Chess Match in April and now Pragyananda has won once again.
