New Delhi: IPL 2022 league matches are over now and now only four teams are in the playoffs. Climate change is currently being witnessed across the country. Which is why a lot of big events are getting into trouble. Now the preparation of Qualifier and Eliminator has started. But in view of the change in the environment, the BCCI has made some changes in the rules regarding playoff matches.
The BCCI made some changes to the rules regarding playoff matches
Currently, the reversal clouds are not only affecting cities or states. But now even in the first match of the playoffs, the clouds of crisis are gathering. Due to the recently completed IPL 2022 league matches, four teams are to play in the playoffs. The first qualifier will be played on May 24 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Which will be between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. But the weather in Kolkata has changed and there has been heavy rainfall. Apart from this, the meteorological department has forecast rains in Kolkata in the next few days. The BCCI was worried about this. So the BCCI has made some changes in the rules regarding playoff matches.
If playoff matches are not completed
According to the information received, if the playoff matches are not completed due to the weather, the result of the match will be decided from the super over. Also, if it is not possible to determine the result even from the super over, the team which has won the most matches in the points table of IPL 2022 and the team which is at the top will be declared the winner. It is to be mentioned that all the league matches of IPL started at 7.30 pm and half an hour before that the toss was done at 7 pm. The same will be the schedule for playoff matches. But playoff matches could start at 9:40 pm if the weather is bad due to rain. This is the maximum limit, if the weather is bad till 9:40 pm then the match will not be played after this time. With this, an attempt will be made to bring the result of the match from the super over. If that is not possible then the top team will be declared the winner as mentioned above.
IThese changes may also occur in the final match of PL 2022
The final match of IPL 2022 will start on May 29 at 8 pm at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But even if the final match is interrupted by rain, the match could start at 10.10 pm. Short matches can then be played due to late start of the match. Also, the match will start late due to rain, so if the match starts late, the match is likely to be held after 12 noon. According to the accompanying information, if the final is not held on May 29, a reserve day will be observed for it. That means the next day the match could be played on May 30. It is also possible that if the match starts on 29th May and the match is postponed for that day due to rain obstruction then it can be played on the next day from where the match ended on the first day. If only one innings is played on May 29 and the other innings is not performed for any reason, the outcome of the match will be determined by the Duckburth-Lewis method.
