Kolkata: In the IPL eliminator played here today, Rajat Patidar’s aggressive century as well as the half-century partnership with Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik helped Royal Challengers Bangalore reach 207 runs in 20 overs against the target of 208 runs despite scoring 207 runs in 20 overs. RCB won by 14 runs.
Lucknow, who were on the verge of hitting the target, were initially bowled out for two in the powerplay. Lokesh Rahul and Deepak Hooda then took the score to 137 when Hooda was dismissed for 45. Rahul had a 36-run partnership with Stoinis, who was dismissed for 9. Hazelwood turned the match around by dismissing KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya in the 19th over and Lucknow were bowled out for 24 in the final over, against which Hershel Patel gave RCB a 14-run victory with just nine runs.
Batting first after losing the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore did not have a good start as Faf du Plessis was dismissed for zero. However, after that Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar shared a 66-run stand to improve the situation a bit. Virat Kohli was personally dismissed for 25, followed by Glenn Maxwell for just 9. Mahipal Lomror was also dismissed for just 14 runs. Rajat Patidar then teamed up with Dinesh Karthik for 92 off 41 balls to take RCB to a strong 207 for four. Patidar, meanwhile, scored 27 off Ravi Bishnoi’s one over with three sixes and two fours and then Karthik took 15 off Avesh Khan’s over. Patidar completed the century by hitting sixes in Mohsin Khan’s over. Patidar was 112 off 54 balls with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes and Karthik was not out for 37.
