AHMEDABAD: In the second qualifier of the IPL played here today, Rajasthan Royals bowlers controlled Rajat Patidar’s half-century innings but Royal Challengers Bangalore reached 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Entered the final for the first time since 2008 with a 7-wicket win.
Josh Butler was the anchor for Rajasthan Royals, scoring a not-out century. Butler first shared a 61-run stand with Yashaswi Jaiswal and then a 52-run stand with Sanju Samson, who single-handedly led Rajasthan to victory.
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, RCB lost the wicket of Virat Kohli in the second over. However, it was followed by a 70-run partnership between Faf du Plessis and Patidar. Du Plessis was dismissed for 25. Maxwell was also dismissed for 24 and Patidar was dismissed for 58. The team’s score was 130 for 4 in 15.3 overs and then RCB could add only 27 runs in the remaining 4.3 overs and took four more wickets. Only four players from RCB were able to reach double digits. Both Obaid McCoy and the famous Krishna took 3-3 wickets.
