Iran: Iran is an Islamic country. Here the crime is punished under Sharia law. Islamic judges take the approach of not giving a simple death penalty to adultery. However, in the Qur’an, adultery is considered a serious sin. Yet the practice of adultery persists in Iran.
In Iran, when a husband has intercourse with another woman and a wife has intercourse with another man, they are given a different kind of punishment. Fifty-one people have been sentenced to death under Sharia law for this crime. A total of 23 women and 28 men are awaiting this severe punishment. Many of them are between the ages of 20-30. Shocking revelations have surfaced after secret documents related to human rights abuses in Iran were leaked. Since then, Iran has been determined not to let these people die easily.
