New Delhi: The Indian team that went on a tour of England has been infected with the Corona virus. The team’s captain Rohit Sharma has been found to be Covid-19 positive. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Rohit Sharma tested positive in the Rapid Antigen Test on Saturday (June 25).
The BCCI wrote, “In the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday, Captain Rohit Sharma has tested positive for Covid-19. He is currently in isolation at the Team Hotel. The BCCI’s medical team is taking care of him.
Rohit Sharma was involved in the Indian team’s practice match against Leicestershire, but did not come to bat in India’s second innings on the third day of play. Rohit came to open the first innings on the opening day of the match, where he scored 25 runs before being dismissed by Roman Walker.
Rohit’s superb performance
Rohit Sharma was India’s best batsman in four Tests against England last year. Later, final tests had to be rescheduled after cases of corona virus were reported. Rohit has scored 368 runs in four Tests at an average of 52.27, including a century at the Oval. India are 2-1 up in the five-match series. If India at least draw the Edgbaston Test, they will occupy the series. The fifth Test will be played from July 1 to 5.
Virat Kohli is also a positive corona
Mumbai: Corona’s shadow has fallen on Team India’s tour of England. Even before Team India reached England, Ravichandran Ashwin Korona was found to be positive. Since then, there have been reports that former India captain Virat Kohli was also caught by Corona, but is now fit. Some reports have claimed that Corona has been found to be positive after Virat Kohli came on holiday from Maldives. However, by the time Team India left for England, Virat Kohli was fit. In such a situation he reached England with the team.
This reply came from BCCI
No official statement has been issued on the reports of Virat Kohli being coronated. But now BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has reacted. “I am not aware of Virat Kohli’s corona being positive. He is perfectly fit and healthy,” said Arun Dhumal. It was also recently reported that the BCCI has issued a warning to Team India. Pictures of many of Team India’s players were circulating on social media, in which they were clicking pictures with fans.
