- The crowded shopping mall was attacked
- There were about 1000 people in the shopping mall
- 16 confirmed deaths, 59 injured, 9 seriously
- The U.S. president condemned the attack
Zelensky said Russia was thwarting efforts to bring people to normal life in Ukraine. Russia is constantly attacking civilians. Video from the scene shows a shopping mall on fire and black smoke billowing into the sky. Emergency services personnel are rushing to the mall while people are watching anxiously. It appears that the Russian army is trying to occupy the eastern Donbass region, in recent days it has forced the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from neighboring Sivirodoneksk.
Russia attacked it thinking it was a rocket factory?
The Russian MoD said in a statement that Moscow had launched a missile attack on a rocket manufacturing plant in Kiev. The plant was used to make ammunition for the Multiple Launch Rocket System. However, Ukraine has made it clear that Russia attacked a shopping mall, not a rocket manufacturing factory. Local media claimed about the attack that there were more than 1 thousand citizens in the shopping center. The mall is on fire. US President Joe Biden has condemned the Russian attack and said the United States stands firm with Ukraine.
Attack in the Lugansk region
On the other hand, the governor of the Lugansk region of Ukraine Sergei Gade also said on Monday that eight civilians were killed in the Russian attack in the city of Lisichansk. The governor said they were collecting water when the Russian army opened fire on the crowd. Eight civilians were killed and at least 21 were injured in what became known as the Cold War. It should be noted that the Russian army has captured the city of Severodnetsk and now their attention is turned to its twin city of Lisichansk. The army is trying to establish its full dominance in the Donbass region.
