Italy: The whole country is facing Drought due to extreme heat and Heat Wave in Italy. The Italian government has declared an emergency in view of the heat and drought. The northern part of Italy and the area around the Po River are most affected by the drought. The region accounts for about a third of the country’s agricultural production and is facing the worst drought in 70 years.

The Po River is the longest river in Italy and extends over 650 kilometers (400 miles) in rich northern Italy. The water level in the Po River, Italy’s longest waterway, has dropped by 85% from normal. In this case the emergency here could prolong one year. Farmers say the flow of water is so low that seawater flows inwards and destroys crops.
The government declared a state of emergency
In view of the severe drought in Italy, the government has declared a state of emergency in five northern regions along the Po River. This is the worst drought in Italy in 70 years. The government said about દેશના 400 million would be provided to five regions of the country – Emilia-Romagna, Fruli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Piedmont and Veneto to address water shortages. Drought could affect 30 percent of Italy’s agricultural production. Record-high temperatures have been recorded in most parts of Italy, with mercury constantly crossing 40 degrees Celsius.
The decision was made after a landslide in the glacier
The Italian government’s decision to impose an emergency comes a day after a glacier landslide in northeastern Italy killed at least seven people. Meteorologists have blamed high temperatures for the glacier’s collapse. Scientists say that if the government does not take a proper and speedy decision in this matter, its consequences could be very fatal in the future.
