This has angered the people of Maldives and they are protesting against the government. Sri Lankan citizens are peacefully protesting against the government’s decision to grant Gotabaya asylum in the Maldives. The exhibition is being held in Malé, the capital of the Maldives. Protesters are demanding that the Maldivian government stop protecting “criminals and thieves”. Police have also arrested a Sri Lankan citizen protesting against the Maldivian government. Gotabaya along with his wife arrived in the Maldives in a military plane early on Wednesday amid a public uprising against the Gotabaya government. The Sri Lankan Air Force issued a statement on the use of military aircraft to flee the country, saying there was no violation of the country’s constitution or laws to fly Rajapaksa and his wife out of the country.
