New Delhi: The fate of 20 thousand medical students who returned to India from war-torn Ukraine is in danger. Union Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar clarified in Rajya Sabha that students studying abroad are included under ‘Screening Test Exchange-2002’ and Foreign Medical Graduate License Exchange-2021. According to the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and the National Medical Commission Act 2019-9, no medical student studying abroad can be admitted to the colleges of the country. Therefore, no Indian student returning from Ukraine is allowed to be admitted in any educational institution of the country. Indian Embassy is helping the students. With the help of the embassy, all the medical universities and colleges of Ukraine are being contacted and study materials are being made available.
