New Delhi: For the first time in India, the auction of 5G spectrum is taking place. Informing about the completion of the auction process, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that 51236 MHz spectrum out of 72098 MHz has been sold during the first 5G spectrum auction in the country. During the spectrum auction, the companies raised a total of Rs. 1,50,173 crore has been bid for the spectrum. Reliance Jio bids highest in spectrum auction After the 5G spectrum auction process was completed, the telecom minister said, “71% of the auctioned spectrum has been sold.” Giving the information, the Telecom Minister said that Reliance Jio Infocomm won the highest bid in the spectrum auction.
Reliance has purchased a total of 24,740Mhz of spectrum. Reliance has bid for 700Mhz, 800Mhz, 1800Mhz, 3300Mhz and 26Ghz spectrum. Airtel is second in the race to acquire 5G spectrum, Bharti Airtel is second in the race to buy spectrum. Bharti Airtel has bought 19867Mhz spectrum. At the same time, Vodafone-Idea has bought 6228Mhz spectrum. Adani Data Networks, which is making its first foray into the world of telecommunications, has bought 400Mhz spectrum after bidding for 26Ghz airwave spectrum. Let it be known that the auction of 5G spectrum for the first time in the country started on July 26, which has ended on August 1, 2022.

On the other hand, on the question of starting 5G auction, 5G services could start in the country by October, Ashwini Vaishnav said that the auction process of 5G spectrum has been completed. All formalities related to advance payment, approval and allotment will be completed in next few days till August 12. “We hope to be able to launch 5G services in the country by October,” he said.

According to the data, during the 5G spectrum auction, on average, Reliance Jio Infocomm bought spectrum worth Rs 88,078 crore, Airtel Rs 43,084 crore, Vodafone-Idea Rs 18,784 crore, while Adani Data Networks, which is entering the telecom world for the first time, bought spectrum worth Rs 212 crore.
