Birmingham: The 22nd Commonwealth Games are being held in Birmingham, England. The fleet of these games has been moving rapidly since July 28. India is also moving forward with it. A total of three medals came to his account on the fourth day, after which India’s medal tally rose to nine. This includes three gold, three silver and three bronze medals. India has won the most medals in weightlifting with seven, while judo has two medals.

India’s Vikas Thakur won silver medal in weightlifting in 96 kg category. He lifted a total of 346 kg (191 clean and jerk and 155 snatch) to win the medal. This is India’s 12th medal overall and 8th in weightlifting.
Weightlifter Harjinder Kaur won bronze at the Commonwealth Games
Indian weightlifter Harjinder Kaur won a bronze medal in the women’s 71 kg category at the Commonwealth Games here, giving India its seventh medal in weightlifting and ninth overall. Harjinder won the medal by lifting 93 kg in snatch and 119 kg in clean and jerk with a total of 112 kg. Gold of this event was won by Sara Davies by lifting 229 kg while Alexis of Canada won silver by lifting 214 kg.
Surat’s Harmeet Desai shines in India’s golden win in Commonwealth Games table tennis
Surat’s Harmeet Desai shone as the Indian men’s team defeated Singapore 3-1 to win the gold in the table tennis men’s team event at the Commonwealth Games here on Tuesday. Harmeet played an important role in winning gold for India by winning first the doubles and then the singles matches. First in the final, the pair of Harmeet and G Sathian entered the field against Singapore’s Yong Kwek and Yuen Koen in the men’s doubles. The pair of Harmit and Sathian defeated Singapore’s Yong and Cohen 13-11, 11-7, 11-5 to give India a 1-0 lead. Sharat Kamal then lost the singles match to Clarence Chew, with the score tied at 1-1. However, after that, Sathian defeated Yoon Koen Peng to take a 2-1 lead. All eyes were on Daromdar Harmeet and he lived up to the Indians’ faith as he defeated Xie Yew Clarence Chew 11-8, 11-5, 11-6 in his singles match to win gold for India.
Indian women’s team creates history, first ever gold medal in loan ball
New Delhi: The Indian women’s team has created history in the Commonwealth Games 2022. In the final match of the lawn balls event, India has won the gold medal by defeating South Africa. This is the first time in the 92-year history that India has won a medal in this event, that too an outright gold medal. In this women’s team event, Team India consisted of Lovely Chaubey, Pinky, Nayanmoni Saikia, Rupa Rani. who consistently performed well and won a medal for the country. In the final match, India defeated South Africa 17-10. The thrilling match which lasted for almost two and a half hours had many ups and downs, with Team India taking the early lead but then South Africa making a comeback as well. In the end, the great game of Team India came in handy and India won the match 17-10. India’s medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2022 has now increased to 10, including 4 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.
India took a 1-0 lead in the match, but South Africa later made a comeback and the score reached 2-1. As the match progressed, it became more interesting. Team India led 4-2 at the start as the round progressed, Team India’s lead got stronger and India led the round 7-2. However, when the next round started, Team India got a little slack. South Africa scored consecutive points here and the match went up 8-8. Till the end of the 13th round of play, India and South Africa continued to struggle. And finally India won the match 17-10.
India got a big win in the semi-final. In the semi-final match of this event, the Indian women’s team defeated New Zealand 16-13. It may be mentioned here that lawn ball has been played in the Commonwealth Games since the early 1930s season and lawn ball was not a part of the Games only once in the 1966 Games. Holds the record for winning the most gold medals in lawn ball. Currently this record is held by England who have won 21 gold medals. Scotland, on the other hand, is second with 20 golds.
