Mumbai: Akasa Air has started its services from Sunday. Its first flight took off for Mumbai-Ahmedabad, which was virtually flagged off by Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. This is the airline company of famous investor and stock broker Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Ticket booking for this flight and its other commercial flights has started from July 22. Its initial network is in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Kochi.

The airline code for Akasa Air is QP. It will have 28 flights per week between Mumbai and Ahmedabad from August 7. Subsequently, from August 13, the airline will operate an additional 28 weekly flights between Bengaluru and Kochi. Tickets for all are available for immediate sale. According to sources, Jhunjhunwala’s business is being eyed by airline tycoons Aditya Ghosh and Vinay Dubey. The airline received permission to fly from the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on July 7. After one month i.e. on Sunday the first flight has left. According to the information, Rakesh was present at the Jhunjhunwala airport during this time.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala thanked the Govt. He said, “Normally a baby is born in 9 months. It took us 12 months to launch the airline. This would not have happened if we had not received the cooperation from the Ministry of Aviation. Vinay Dubey who is the Founder and CEO of Akasa Airlines said, “We are finally able to book flight tickets, which we are extremely excited about. We are also excited to introduce our product which will be unlike anything we have experienced in this category so far. Akasa staff will serve the customers with warmth. They further said that we will provide reliable network and ticket service to all our customers.
