Star shuttler PV Sindhu has dropped out of the upcoming World Badminton Championship. She suffered an ankle injury during the Commonwealth Games, which turned out to be a severe stress fracture, ruling Sindhu out of the important tournament. At the Commonwealth Games, she won gold in women’s singles and silver in mixed badminton and played till the final match despite an ankle injury.

Sindhu’s father PV Ramanna has confirmed that she has suffered a stress fracture in her left ankle. She suffered the injury in the women’s singles quarterfinals at the recently concluded Birmingham Commonwealth Games. But still he played the semi-final match in severe pain and then won the gold medal by winning the final match despite ankle pain and swelling.
Sindhu’s father is very sad after his daughter’s injury as she was in great form these days and performed well in Singapore Open and Commonwealth Games. Sindhu also won the Singapore Open title. Ramanna said that we are disappointed that Sindhu cannot play now but these things are not in our hands. Sindhu is now focused on her recovery and her next target will be the Denmark and Paris Open Championships in October.
