New Delhi: Star cricketer Rishabh Pant, who was injured after the accident, is currently undergoing treatment. While there is no chance of Pant playing in the upcoming IPL season, Delhi Capitals team has replaced Pant with a foreign player as the captain of the team.
Delhi Capitals have appointed Australian opener David Warner as their team captain for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Warner replaces Rishabh Pant, who is sidelined from cricket after being injured in a road accident. Pant is going to be out of some important tournaments along with the IPL. Along with this, Delhi Capitals have assigned the responsibility of vice captaincy to Akshar Patel for IPL 2023.
36-year-old David Warner is a household name in international cricket and IPL and has played in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) apart from Delhi Capitals. David Warner’s achievements as a captain and batsman for Sunrisers Hyderabad is exemplary for every young cricketer. But SRH treated Warner very badly, which did not go down well with the fans.
SRH stripped Warner of the captaincy midway through the season
Warner had to lose the captaincy after the team’s poor performance in the first phase of IPL 2021. After this, the Hyderabad management made Kane Williamson the captain of the team. There were reports at the time that Tom Moody and David Warner were not together at all. There were also media reports of misbehavior with Warner from the SRH team management and then after the end of the season, the relationship between the two ended.
During one match, Warner was sitting by the stairs away from the Sunrisers’ dugout. The pictures created a lot of discussion in social media. Williamson was made the captain by Sunrisers Hyderabad in place of Warner, but he too could not do anything special and Sunrisers were in dire straits in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
