DEAR DEIDRE: THE day I wrote to you, I was at my lowest point – heartbroken.
After 15 years of marriage, my wife had told me she didn’t love me any more, and wanted to separate.

I hadn’t seen it coming. I’m 42 and she’s 43. We have a son and daughter, aged 14 and 12.
We had, I believed, a great sex life and I felt that I was a good husband, helping with cooking and housework.
We’d never had a single argument.
You told me people aren’t always open about feelings, and suggested I talk to my wife to see if we could repair the relationship.
You also suggested counselling and sent your support pack about this.
When I spoke with my wife, I realised how much we’d drifted apart.
We both agreed that we needed to make changes and to focus on each other again.
We’re now taking things slowly, one day at a time. And we’re going on holiday – our first without the children.
I am so optimistic about the future. Thank you for listening and making me feel there was hope.
