MUMBAI: In a match played here on Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers Sanju Samson’s half-century and Shimron Hatmire’s 153-run knock in the final over helped KKR to score 19 runs. The wicket was captured and won by 7 wickets.
Once again, KKR did not have a good start and lost both the openers’ wickets for 32 runs. Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana then put on a 60-run stand to take the score to 92 when Shreyas was dismissed for 34. Rinku Singh, who joined Nitish in the game, then led KKR to victory. The two had a 66-run notout partnership. Nitish Rana (48 off 37 balls) and Rinku (42 off 23 balls) were not out.
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Rajasthan Royals got off to a bad start and Devdutt Padikal was dismissed for just two runs. Butler was dismissed for 22 when Jose Butler and Sanju Sams put on a 48-run partnership to take the score to 55. Rajasthan then lost the wickets of Karun Nair, Ryan Parag and Sanju Samson in a short span of time to take their total to 115 for five. However, in the final two overs, Hetmeyer and Ravichandran Ashwin combined to add 37 runs to take the Rajasthan Royals to 152. Hetmeyer was 27 off 13 balls with 2 sixes while Ashwin was not out for 6.
