Pune: Shubhaman Gill’s not-out 63-run innings and his half-century partnership with David Miller’s 14-run innings against Rahul Tewatia’s 22-run innings against Gujarat Tevtiya in the 57th match of IPL played here today. The Gujarat Titans became the first team to reach their first IPL playoffs with a 62-run victory as the Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for just 82 against Khan and debutant R Sai Kishore’s Aflatoon spin bowling.
For the Lucknow Super Giants on the field to reach the target, the batsmen started coming back one after the other after both their openers came together for just 24 runs. Was all out. Rashid Khan took 4 wickets while Sai Kishore and Yash Dayal took 2 wickets each.
Gujarat lost the wickets of Matthew Wade and Captain Hardik by 51 runs after wicketkeeper-batsman Riddhiman Saha, who always gave a flying start to the Gujarat Titans who decided to bat first after winning the toss, was dismissed for just five runs. However, Gill not only built his innings but also made quick runs for the team. He shared a 52-run stand with Miller to take the score to 103 in the 16th over when Miller was dismissed for 26 off 24 balls. However, in the final four overs, Gill and Rahul Tewatia, who joined him in the game, added 41 runs. Gill was not out for 63 off 49 balls with the help of 7 fours. Tewatia was unbeaten on 22 off 16 balls.
