New Delhi: The winner of IPL-2022 has become Gujarat Titnes. But now the fans are waiting for the T20 match between India and South Africa. When the T20 series is played, there is a possibility of a big update regarding the IPL in which the media rights of the IPL will be auctioned. This time the bid is for the term 2023-28. There is talk of BCCI earning thousands of crores of rupees due to this bid.
Tenders for IPL media rights have already been issued. But there is now fierce competition between the five companies. Brokerage firm Ilara Securities estimates that bids for media rights could go up to Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 crore this time around. The brand value of IPL has increased. At the last auction, BCCI received Rs 16,300 crore for the period 2018 to 2022. But now that the IPL has got bigger, the number of teams has also increased to 10. As a result, the brand value of the IPL has increased tremendously.
Currently five companies are in the race for the bid. Viacom, Disney-Hotstar, Sony, Zee and Amazon have become rivals. This time around there has been a tremendous focus on digital platforms which has put online streaming platforms like Amazon in the race. Many things are being considered this time around in the media rights of IPL bidding based on different sets. These include TV rights, digital rights, rights to playoff matches, rights to show matches abroad. There are different base prices for the four sets, depending on which bid will be placed. Out of which TV rights cost Rs 49 crore per match.
According to the information received, the TV rating of IPL 2022 has dropped drastically, this time the IPL is also being called boring. But despite all this, the price of IPL has not changed. Discussions are also rife that the IPL will now be able to be played twice a year. However, no official information has been released about this.
