MUMBAI: The media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL), also known as the Indian Money League in world cricket, are currently being auctioned off and so far from TV and digital rights in the Indian subcontinent. According to unofficial reports, TV rights in the Indian subcontinent have been acquired by Disney Hotstar while digital rights have been acquired by Reliance’s Viacom 18. The auction is still going on and bids are being made for the auction of C and D packages. The IPL has not only flooded the coffers of the BCCI but also the players from all over the world.

According to a report, players from all over the world who have participated in the IPL so far have been paid a total of Rs. 2500 crore has been received. Speaking of the 2022 season alone, 204 players received a total of Rs 551 crore as salary during the mega auction for this season, which is said to be the largest amount ever. Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has topped the list of highest earners in the history of the IPL. He is followed by Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, followed by former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli. Dhoni has so far earned a total of Rs. 164 crore. While Rohit Sharma paid Rs. 162 crore and Virat Kohli 158 crore. It is followed by Suresh Raina with Rs 110 crore and AB de Villiers with Rs 102 crore.
