Nottingham: Indian captain Rohit Sharma, in reply to experts who questioned Virat Kohli’s place in the T20 squad, said that the quality of the star batsman could not be doubted and that the team management Will continue to support it. Kohli has not scored a century in any format since November 2019 and has not been effective in the current T20I against England. Some experts, including India’s World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev and former England captain Michael Vaughan, questioned Kohli’s long-running poor form.
- Virat Kohli’s quality cannot be doubted and team management will continue to support him: Rohit Sharma
- Rohit’s sarcasm, I don’t understand who the questioner is and why he is called an expert
Speaking to reporters after the third T20 on Sunday, Rohit said experts did not know what was going on inside the team. Asked what the team thinks of Kohli’s form, Rohit said, “It’s not a problem for us because we don’t pay attention to outside talk.” Also I don’t know who these experts are and I don’t understand why they are called experts. Rohit said he looks at things from the outside. We have a process of thinking. We team up, we discuss and think a lot about it.
Rohit said that the level or quality of a batsman who has scored 70 international centuries cannot be questioned. Ricky Ponting has scored more than 71 international centuries and Sachin Tendulkar has scored 100 centuries. Fluctuations in form come to everyone, it does not make a player’s level worse. We have to be careful before making such a comment. This has happened to me and it has happened to everyone. There is nothing new in that.
