New Delhi: The long-running war between Russia and Ukraine has affected the entire world. Due to this war, the dreams of students from other countries including Indian students have also been washed away. Indian medical students studying in Russia and Ukraine suffered a lot in their studies. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, many students had to abandon their studies and return to their home countries.
Let us tell you that when Russia invaded Ukraine at the end of February 2022, many Indian students were brought back to India from Ukraine. The fate of thousands of these Indian medical students hung in the balance because of the war. In such a situation, in order to complete their studies, Russia has given these students an offer to continue their studies in their country further.
Russian Consul General in Chennai Oleg Avdev said that Indian students from Ukraine can complete their medical studies in Russia. Oleg has invited Indian students to study here. He said that the course of medical studies in Ukraine and Russia is almost the same. Also students can understand the language here as most people in Ukraine speak Russian. Let it be known that on October 23, the Indian Embassy in Kyiv issued an advisory and asked the Indian citizens currently living in the war-torn country to leave Ukraine as soon as possible.
Oleg said that a large number of people go to Russia to study and apply for scholarships there. Every year a large number of Indian students go to Russia and Ukraine for medical studies. But because of the war, students cannot go back to Ukraine to complete their studies.
Why many students from India go to Ukraine to study?
Many students from India go to Ukraine every year to study medicine. The main reason for this is that medical education in Ukraine is much cheaper than in India. If you do a medical course from any private college in India it costs around 80 lakh to 1 crore rupees, but the same education is done in Ukraine for only 25 lakh rupees.
The future of thousands of Indian students is at stake
Thousands of Indians were trapped in Ukraine after the Russian invasion. During the war, 22 thousand 500 Indians were brought from Ukraine to India with the help of 90 flights. Most of these people were studying medicine in Ukraine. Now these students are fighting a legal battle for the last 9 months to complete their studies. At the same time, Russia has now offered these students up front that any student who wants to can continue his medical studies in Russia.
