New Delhi: Team India has received a big blow before the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. According to the information, experienced fast bowler Mohammad Shami (Mohammad Shami) has been out of this ODI series due to injury. As Shami got injured in his hand, he had to leave the match. BCCI has given information about this by tweeting. India has to play three ODIs and two Test matches on the Bangladesh tour. The ODI series is starting from December 4 i.e. Sunday.
Umran Malik got an entry
BCCI has said, ‘Fast bowler Mohammad Shami suffered a shoulder injury during training for the ODI series against Bangladesh. Shami is currently under the care of BCCI’s medical team at the NCA and will not be able to participate in the three-match series. The All India Senior Selection Committee has selected Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement.
Shami has also been included in the Test series squad
According to information, Shami has an injury in his hand and will not be able to play all three matches. Shami has also been included in the squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. In Bumrah’s absence, Shami was to lead the Indian pace attack in the ODI series. The first ODI between India and Bangladesh will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday, December 4.
Shami will report to NCA
In this matter, information has been received from the sources that Mohammad Shami has got an injury in his hand, which was hit again after resuming training after the T20 World Cup in Australia. He has been asked to report to the NCA and did not travel with the team on December 1.
The New Zealand tour was rested
Shami was also rested from the New Zealand tour after the T20 World Cup 2022 along with other senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Shami was part of Team India in the T20 World Cup. However, he could not perform anything special in that tournament. All the senior players including Rohit, Kohli and Rahul are returning to the squad from the ODI series against Bangladesh.
Apart from Shami, the current squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh already has four fast bowlers. Including Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Sen. In such a situation, BCCI will hardly announce any replacement.
The Indian team is currently in Dhaka and the team took part in a practice session on Friday. In which most of the players were present. With this series, the Indian team will start preparing for the ODI World Cup to be held at home next year. All eyes will be on the Indian top order. Rohit and Rahul have been going through a poor run of form for quite some time now.
Tests may also be out of range
However, if Shami’s injury turns out to be serious, he will not be able to participate in the two-match Test series starting on December 14. “Shami’s absence in the three ODIs is certainly a factor, but the biggest concern is the Test series where he will have to lead the attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence,” the source said.
