Navi Mumbai: The Indian Women’s Cricket Team tied the five-match series 1-1 by defeating Australia in the Super Over in the second T20 here on Sunday. Along with this, India also put a break on Australia’s victory campaign that lasted from the last 16 T20 matches. This was Australia’s first defeat in any format in 2022. Chasing Australia’s target of 188 runs, India put on a 76-run stand for the first wicket with Shefali Verma, who scored 34 runs, and 61 runs with Harmanpreet Kaur, in addition to Smriti Mandhana’s innings of 79 runs. Wicketkeepers Richa Ghosh and Devika Vaidya played an important role in tying the match.

Richa scored 26 not out with 3 sixes in 13 balls, and Devika scored 11 not out in five balls. India started with Richa and Smriti in their first super over in history. Richa hit Heather’s first ball for a six but got out on the next ball. India scored a total of 20 runs with Smriti hitting a four off the fourth ball and a six off the next ball and three runs off the final ball. India won the match against Australia by scoring only 16 runs.

Alyssa Healy and Ashley Gardner came out to bat for Australia. Healy hit a four off Renuka’s first ball. Healy scored two runs off the second ball. On the third ball, Renuka had Gardner caught by Radha, after which Tahila McGrath came in to bat. McGrath took a single on the fourth ball. Healy hit a four on the fifth ball while Healy hit a six on the last ball but Australia could only score 16 runs with this.

Batting first after losing the toss, Australia scored 187 runs for the loss of one wicket in 20 overs. Mooney scored 82 not out and Tahila McGrath scored 70 not out. In reply, the Indian team also scored 187 runs in 20 overs after losing five wickets. Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant innings of 79 runs. This is how the match reached the super over. With this win, the Indian team has leveled the series at 1-1. Australia won the first match by nine wickets.
