The third war was fought by Pakistan in Kargil in 1999. was This attack was carried out long after the Tashkent Agreement. Later, India again showed a mirror to Pakistan by conducting a big campaign and capturing all the outposts. At first, Pakistan denied the presence of its troops in the war, but later its leadership admitted that it was the brainchild of then General Pervez Musharraf. Musharraf had hoped that the Pakistani army would wrest the area from India, but brave Indian soldiers foiled his plan.
