There are still two Tests left, so why is the trophy already in the name of India?
Let us tell you that there are still two Test matches left in this Test series. But how can the trophy be in the name of India before that? If maybe Australia can win these last 2 matches and draw the series 2-2. So even then the question is how can India retain the trophy even after winning two matches? The answer to this is that India had also won the previous BGT series. And when a Test series is played between two teams and the series is drawn, then this trophy goes to the team that wins the next series. Looking at the performance of Team India, it seems that Team India will give Australia a clean sweep of 4-0. Let us tell you that India has this trophy since 2017. India last lost the BGT in 2014-15. After this, in 2016-17, 2018-19, 2020-21 and now this time too, they have won the trophy.
Let us tell you that after winning the toss and batting first, Australia scored 263 runs in the first innings, in response to which Team India also scored 262 runs in their first innings. That means India could not take the lead by just one run. Akshar Patel scored 74 and R.K. Ashwin played an innings of 37 runs. At one point, India lost seven wickets for 150 runs. After this, only 114 runs partnership between Akshar and Ashwin brought Team India back.
