New Delhi: Before visiting India for the G20 Summit, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made a big statement regarding the Russia-Ukraine War. He said in an interview that to end this war, Russian President Vladimir Putin would have launched a nuclear attack on Ukraine a long time ago, but it is possible that India and China have stopped him from doing so.
Only India-China prevented a nuclear attack…
“Putin could have reacted more irrationally against Ukraine in this war,” Blinken said ahead of a visit to India for the G20 summit. There were repeated threats of nuclear attack from Moscow. This is a concern. He said- We have requested all those countries with whom we have good relations to end this war. I think it has had some effect. This includes China and India. Both countries tried and succeeded in preventing Russia from launching a nuclear attack on Ukraine. Before his visit to India, the US Secretary of State praised India and China.
Russia and India have been good friends for decades
He further said, “Russia has been close to India for decades, providing it with military equipment for its defence, but what we have seen in the last few years is that instead of relying only on Russia, India is relying on us and other countries like France. Working together.”
India and China abstained from voting
India and China abstained from voting in the 193-member UN General Assembly on Friday to end the Ukraine war, marking a year since the end of the conflict. While 141 members voted in favor of the proposal, seven members opposed it. India and China were among the 32 members who were absent.
This is not the era of war – PM Modi
Both India and China have so far taken a neutral stance instead of calling for dialogue and peaceful negotiations to end the Ukraine war. India’s permanent representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, told the UN that India’s approach to the Ukraine conflict would be people-centric and reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that this cannot be an era of war.
