New Delhi: A sad news has come out on Sunday morning on April 2 for Indian Cricketer. Former Indian cricketer Salim Durrani has passed away at the age of 88. He breathed his last this morning in Jamnagar, Gujarat. He was fighting cancer. Durrani is the first Indian cricketer to be awarded the Arjuna Award. Durrani was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1960. Durrani played a total of 29 Test matches for India and during this period scored 1202 runs, including 1 century and 7 half-centuries, besides taking 75 wickets.

Born in Afghanistan, Durrani has also lived in Karachi
Indian spin all-rounder Salim Durrani was born on 11 December 1934 in Kabul, Afghanistan. But when Durrani was only 8 months old, his family settled in Karachi, Pakistan. After this, when India and Pakistan were partitioned, Durrani’s family came to India. Durrani created a distinct identity in the cricket world with his all-round performances in the 60s-70s. Durrani is known as one of the greatest all-rounders in Indian cricket history. He made his debut in Mumbai Test against Australia in 1960. Durrani Atishi was known for his batting. Along with this, Durrani was also famous for hitting sixes at the behest of the audience.
