New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday filed two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh (Brijbhushan Sharan Singh) in allegations of sexual harassment by seven women wrestlers, according to the Supreme Court. One of the two FIRs filed by the Connaught Place police was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) along with other related sections. However, today is the 8th day of Pahlwana’s sit-in.
On Sunday, Brij Bhushan has accused a businessman about this incident. He said that all this has been conspired by a businessman with wealth of thousands of crores. Brij Bhushan also said today that Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat have changed their statements. Also making another big claim he said that whoever is sitting on dharna belongs to Hooda Academy. Prime Minister Modi is on his target. Delhi Police has provided security to 7 women wrestlers amid protests by wrestlers against sexual harassment. Also, Delhi Police has contacted 7 women wrestlers and recorded their statements.
Meanwhile, Olympic winner Yogeshwar Dutt has reacted to this. Dutt said that an FIR has been registered with the police and legal action has also been initiated against him. The matter is now in the hands of the court. So players should pay attention to their practice. He further said that they had already advised the players to go to the police. Apart from this, Yogeshwar said that the police will take action only when you file an FIR. I had already told this to the pioneers. He further said that the sports ministry had also formed a committee but they could not directly accuse anyone nor say anyone was innocent. Apart from this, the committee does not have the power to take such a decision. This power is vested only in the courts who can punish the guilty and bring justice to the innocent. The committee’s job is only to conduct an impartial investigation and submit a report.
Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad also reached Jantar Mantar to support the pioneers. He said that this fight is not about party, caste or religion but about truth. Apart from this, the students of the University of Delhi have also launched a #istandwithmychampions hashtag campaign. Wrestler Bajrang Punia said, ‘The police said if you want to protest, sleep on the road. What kind of pressure has come on him today, earlier there was no such problem, this FIR is only due to the pressure of the Supreme Court. We ordered some goods but the police do not allow us to bring them here and those who bring the goods are beaten and chased away. We will protest till justice is served, no matter how much the police administration tortures us.
7 women officers of Delhi Police will investigate this case. 7 women will report to 1 ACP and then ACP will report to DCP. Around 10 inspectors of New Delhi district were called to the police station to register the FIR. After which 2 FIRs have been registered.
