Karachi: Pakistan captain Babar Azam set a new record by completing 5000 runs of his ODI career in the fourth ODI against New Zealand here on Friday. He broke the record of South African batsman Hashim Amla for the fastest 5000 runs in 97 ODIs. Amla completed this figure in 101 ODIs while Babar has crossed this figure in 97 ODIs. India’s Virat Kohli and West Indies’ Vivian Richards are joint third with 114 innings, while David Warner is fourth with 115 innings.

Injured KL Rahul rules himself out of WTC final: Will undergo joint surgery
New Delhi: India’s top-order batsman KL Rahul has ruled himself out of the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia and will now undergo a hip surgery following the advice of his medical team. In the IPL, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rahul got injured in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and now he is out for an indefinite period due to this injury.
It is worth mentioning that the WTC final against Australia will be played from June 7 at the Oval Cricket Ground in London and apart from Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will not play due to injuries. Rahul uploaded a statement on his social media handle and wrote that I am really disappointed that I will not be able to be with Team India at the Oval next month. I will do whatever I can to help my country and get back into the team. That will always be my priority. Injury is never easy. I would like to thank everyone who supported me.
He said that after consultation with the medical team, I have come to a decision that I will undergo surgery soon. In the coming weeks my full focus will be on rehabilitation and recovery. It was a difficult decision for me to make but it was necessary to recover from this injury. Rahul’s exit from the WTC finals has dealt a big blow to Team India. Team India will have to announce Rahul’s replacement soon.
