New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently in turmoil. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has resigned on June 19 midnight. This information was tweeted by Najam Shethi. Pakistan’s politics is being held responsible for this. Apart from this, there has been a big revelation regarding the schedule of the World Cup.
The ODI World Cup schedule has already been announced late. Then in such situation Pakistan is delaying it more. ICC sent the possible World Cup schedule to all the cricket boards in which none of the boards objected to this schedule and gave green signal to it while Pakistan did not give green signal to this schedule.
Pakistan does not want to play the match with India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. ICC has been asked to transfer Pakistan’s match against India to another venue. Apart from this, Pakistan wants their match against Afghanistan in Chennai to be changed as well. However, no hearing has taken place in the PCB on this issue. Also, he has not presented any concrete evidence on this issue. As per the current situation, the match between India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad while the match between Pakistan and Afghanistan will be played in Chennai. No statement has yet been given by the ICC regarding this entire matter.
In a tweet, Shethi said that I don’t want to cause controversy between Shahbaz Sharif and Asif Zardari.
Najam Sethi tweeted that ‘Greetings to all! I don’t want to cause controversy between Shahbaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. This uncertainty and instability does not bode well for the Pakistan Cricket Board. In all these circumstances I am not a candidate for the post of President of Pakistan Cricket Board. Good luck to all Stadholders.’ Let it be known that Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi presented a hybrid model to the ACC for Pakistan to host the Asia Cup. After much controversy ACC accepted this hybrid model and allowed Pakistan to host four matches.
Sethi’s term was to end on June 21
Politics is seen in most of PCB’s decisions which is not new. Najam Sethi was one of the close associates of the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif. Due to this, Najam Sethi was replaced by Ramiz Raja as the Chairman of PCB in December 2022 as soon as Imran Khan left the government. However, Sethi’s tenure was scheduled to end on June 21. It was hoped that Sethi would continue to function after his tenure as chairman. But Najam Sethi announced at 1pm on 19 June that he was resigning as PCB chairman.
