Hyderabad: India’s startup Telangana has been included in the list of top 100 emerging startup ecosystems worldwide. Telangana is ranked 61-70 in the recently published Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) 2022. However, in the 10th edition of the report, it still lags behind Chennai and Pune. Last year, Hyderabad was ranked 61-70 along with Mumbai, Pune and Chennai.

Telangana has been ranked in the top 10 in the Global Ecosystem in Affordable Talent and Funding in the Asian Ecosystem in the same report, while it has been ranked in the top 15 in the Global Ecosystem in Bang for Bugs list. While Telangana scored more than Chennai and Pune in terms of funding and market reach, it lags behind both the cities in terms of performance, talent and experience.
In the top 30, Bengaluru and Delhi
Telangana was also ahead of Mumbai and Delhi in terms of funding and market reach, while it was on par with Bengaluru in terms of funding and higher in terms of market reach. Bengaluru and Delhi were the two states that made it into the top 30 in GSER 2022 while Mumbai improved its ranking to break into the top 40 with 36th position.
The IT sector has grown by 13% in Telangana
“Like Silicon Valley in the US, Bengaluru is no longer the only IT sector,” the report said. Out of seven in the GSER list, six Indian ecosystems, including Chennai, Pune, Telangana and Kerala, have improved their rankings. Delhi and Mumbai have also rejoined Bengaluru in the top 40. According to the report, Telangana’s IT sector has registered a growth rate of 13 per cent in 2021, despite the Kovid-19 epidemic against the national rate of 8 per cent.
