Recently, ballistic missiles (Ballistic Missiles) released by North Korea (North Korea) passed over Japan. Countries like America, Britain, India and France have condemned the Korean country for such action. North Korea’s missile launches have heightened tensions in the region. South Korean (South Korea) security officials said that the US Navy Aircraft Carrier Strike Group (Aircraft Carrier Strike Group) is now moving into the waters of the Korean Peninsula. According to a statement issued by the country’s President’s Office, tensions have increased after North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles. Following this, South Korea’s National Security Council (NSC) convened an emergency meeting on Thursday. It was the sixth such launch by North Korea in 12 days.
The NSC has warned that North Korea’s provocations will be severely retaliated against. The redeployment of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan and its strike group to the East Sea (Sea of Japan) is seen as a warning to North Korea. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said on Wednesday that the US carrier strike group will be redeployed to the waterway. He described it as an “extraordinary step” that shows the South Korea-US alliance’s determination to respond appropriately to any North Korean provocation or threat. On Wednesday, the United Nations Security Council also discussed North Korea’s missile launch.
The statement provoked North Korea
When asked about South Korea’s statement on Reagan’s activities, a spokesperson for the US 7th Fleet told CNN that the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group is currently operating in the Sea of Japan. The Navy declined to comment on its future mission. South Korea’s statement on the activities of the US Navy strike group has angered North Korea. A statement posted by North Korea’s foreign ministry said that North Korea sees the United States as posing a serious threat to stability in and around the Korean Peninsula by redeploying a carrier task force to Korean Peninsula waters.
90 aircraft and helicopter strength
Earlier in August, the Ronald Reagan Aircraft Carrier Group was sent from Japan to Taiwan in anticipation of US Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. The Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier is armed with nuclear weapons. America’s most advanced F-35B fighter jets are deployed on it. This powerful US aircraft carrier runs on nuclear power and is armed with several deadly missiles. Ronald Reagan, head of Carrier Strike Group Five, has a strength of 90 fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
South Korea’s military has heightened alert
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida called North Korea’s missile launch absolutely intolerable. Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada said the missile did not reach Japan’s exclusive economic zone. South Korea’s military says it is on high alert and ready to face any eventuality with the US. The US Indo-Pacific Command said the launches did not pose an immediate threat to the US or its allies but underscored the potential implications of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
