Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Himanshu Bodawala, Vice President Ramesh Vaghasia, Honorary Minister Bhavesh Taylor, Honorary Treasurer Bhavesh Garhiya and ITTF Chairman Amish Shah and Co-Chairman Harshal Bhagte on Thursday, dt. On January 1, 2003, a meeting was held with the president of BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association), the largest association of Bangladesh, in Dhaka, along with office bearers of the association.
Chamber of Commerce President Himanshu Bodawala said that Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association President Farooq Hasan and other office bearers have shown their readiness to help the textile entrepreneurs of Surat. In particular, Surat’s textile industrialists will be able to connect with local buyers for export of various fabrics to Dhaka. Binti Jahan, Bangladesh Representative of the Chamber of Commerce will also provide necessary guidance to Surat’s textile entrepreneurs and businessmen to increase their business in Bangladesh.
In this meeting, important discussions were held to develop the entire value chain of textiles. In which especially to set up a center so that the industrialists of Surat can easily display their various fabrics in Bangladesh, the Chamber of Commerce will also set up separate arrangements to display the garments of Bangladesh to the textile traders and cloth importers in Surat.
He said that Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association will set up a knowledge center in Dhaka to provide information on man made fabrics. Apart from this, the Chamber of Commerce will launch a Modern Textile Education Program for textile entrepreneurs and students of Bangladesh. Both associations will enter into an MoU for mutual knowledge sharing.
They will also provide samples to the Chamber of Commerce of what kind of fabrics are required by the garment manufacturers of Bangladesh. The Chamber will display these samples at GFRRC in Surat and provide guidance to the textile manufacturers of Surat. So that they can make and export the required fabrics to the garment manufacturers of Bangladesh.
Textile industry in Bangladesh sought support to divert from cotton baize to MMF
President of BGMEA Farooq Hasan said, currently Bangladesh’s garment is cotton beige but now it is gradually diverting towards man made fabrics, Surat needs to be aggressive to take advantage of this opportunity. The right time has come for Surat to enter the Bangladesh market. The Chamber has invited the Bangladesh delegation including the president of BGMEA and traders to visit the textile exhibition to be held at Surat in April-2013. Which was accepted by the officials of BGMEA. He will come to Surat to visit the textile industry of Surat.
