The African Diaspora Central Bank has officially committed $9 billion(USD) investment into Mandrolli, a solar and battery-powered electric vehicle (EV) startup based in Johannesburg, South Africa, with an operations base in the U.S. Mandrolli is the first EV space to raise the entire investment for full production in the first seed round without any Series financing, and the largest automotive deal ever for black women and men. This move will propel Mandrolli into the mix among new EV companies headed to the market to join the ranks of Tesla, Lucid, and Rivian. “What is clear going forward is that industrialization will be the driving force behind Africa’s continental free trade area, and certainly one of the greatest industries to participate in, within the industrialization process, is of course the automotive industry.
