Bangkok: India made history by beating Indonesia in the final match of the Thomas Cup. India has beaten the team that has won this tournament 14 times. The pair of Lakshya Sen I and Satvik Chirag gave India victory in the second match. After this, Kindambi Srikkanth won the third match and made the Indian team the Thomas Cup champions for the first time. Lakshya Sen defeated defending champion Antony Sinisuka of Indonesia 8-21, 21-17, 21-16 in the opening match. In the second match also, Satvik Chirag’s pair won 18-21, 23-21, 21-19. The third match is being played between Srikanth and Christy and the first set has been won by Kidambi Srikanth.
The Indian team made it to the finals for the first time by beating teams like Malaysia and Denmark, so the team’s confidence was very strong. Now history has been made by beating 14-time record champions Indonesia in the final. The team that wins at least three of the five matches will be considered the winner. India won the first three matches, due to which the remaining two matches were not played.
There was a heated confrontation between Srikanth and Christy
The match was between Kidambi Srikkanth of India and Jonathan Christie of Indonesia. Srikanth won the first set by a margin of 21-15. Srikkanth then won for the second time to make India champions.
The Satvik-Chirag duo won the second match
The second match was played in doubles, in which the Indian pair of Satviksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty faced off against the pair of Kevin Sanjay and Mohammad Ahsan. The match was very exciting. The Indonesian pair won the first set 21-18. In the second set, the Indian pair clashed and won the set 23-21 to level the match. The third set was also won by the Indian pair by a margin of 21-19. Due to which India took a 2-0 lead in the match.
First match: Lakshya wins in his own name
There was a thrilling confrontation between Target and Anthony Sinisuka. Anthony won the first set 21-8 and tied the match 21-17 in the second set. Lakshya won the third set 21-16. Indonesia’s record in this tournament is superb and it has been unbeaten so far in the current tournament. The Indian team suffered its only defeat against Chinese Taipei in the group stage. But now India had beaten Indonesia in the final.

Congratulations to our team and best wishes for the upcoming matches. This will also inspire our future generations. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has also congratulated the winning badminton team. With this, the Ministry of Sports has announced to give one crore rupees to the winning team.
