New York: A shocking incident of breaking the statue of the father of India Mahatma Gandhi by rioters has come to light in New York city of America. After the rioters tore down Gandhi’s statue, writing dog next to it has hurt the sentiments of Indians living in America. Anger has spread among Indians.
A statue of Gandhi was placed outside a Hindu temple in Queens County, New York. According to the New York Police, six people have broken the statue of Gandhiji. Let it be known that this is the second time in the last two weeks that the statue of Gandhi has been vandalized. Earlier on August 3, some rioters pulled down the statue.
The New York Police said the incident took place near the Sri Tulsi Temple in South Richmond Hill. 6 unknown rioters came at 1.30 pm. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi placed here was broken. Rioters Grand P and Dog were also written on the road outside the temple. Then everyone got into the car and ran away.
Jennifer Rajkumar, a member of the Indian Assembly in New York, has condemned the incident. Jennifer said that it is sad to know that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, known worldwide as a symbol of peace and non-violence, has been abused. This shows that hatred towards Hindus is increasing in America.
Let us tell you that earlier on 26 January 2022, the supporters of Khalistan tried to deface the Gandhi statue in Washington DC. Khalistanis hoisted their flag on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. In January 2021, a 6-foot statue of Bapu was vandalized in California’s Central Park. Earlier in December 2020, Bapu’s statue was vandalized in front of the Indian Embassy in Washington. Even in June 2020, the Gandhi statue was vandalized and damaged.
