New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani, the second largest rich man in India and Asia, is preparing for another explosion. His company Reliance Jio is going to launch an affordable laptop. It is named JioBook and its price will be only 15,000 rupees i.e. 184 dollars. The company had earlier brought the affordable smartphone JioPhone and now wants to repeat this success in laptops as well. Currently, HP, Dell and Lenovo dominate the laptop market in the country. But with the landing of Reliance, these companies are likely to face stiff competition.
According to the report, Reliance Jio’s laptops will be equipped with 4G SIM. For this, the company has joined hands with world-renowned companies Qualcomm and Microsoft. Qualcomm will provide the chip technology for this while Microsoft will provide support for some apps. Jio is the largest telecom company in the country. Its customer base is more than 42 crores. However, the company did not immediately comment on the JioBook.

According to research firm IDC, 1.48 crore PCs were shipped for sale in the country last year. Currently it is dominated by HP, Dell and Lenovo.
Jio’s laptop will target this market
JioBookThe launch is expected to boost the laptop market segment in the country by at least 15 percent. Jio’s own operating system JioOS will be installed on this laptop and apps can be downloaded from JioStore. Jio is targeting corporate employees who are currently working from home.
