Surat: The city of Surat, which is the economic capital of the state and has the title of diamond and textile city, is plagued by educated unemployed. In the rapidly developing city of Surat, there is massive unemployment among the highly educated class. The 53rd special graduation ceremony was held at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) recently. Out of 27,311 undergraduate and post graduate degree holders, 20,780 students are doing nothing i.e. 76.09% are unemployed.
The university filled the online and offline forms with the students
Like every year, this year too, the university has filled online and offline forms for awarding degrees to undergraduate and post graduate students who have completed their studies. In this form, the university asked the students, what are they currently doing? Meanwhile, 5,228 students out of 20,780 who filled the form to get the degree said that they are currently pursuing higher education. While 1,303 students said that we have employment and 20,780 students said that they are doing nothing. Out of 1,303 employed students, 790 students are employed, 273 are in family business and 240 students are self-employed.
What did the university do to help students get jobs?
A look at what the university has done for students to get jobs, has launched 165 certificate-diploma courses looking at market jobs. When the competitive exam classes for government jobs like IAS, IPS, UPSE, GPSE, CDS started, the UG-PG students are forced to register their name and affiliation portal in the employment office of the university. The program emphasizes startup-innovation by providing internships to students in private companies and implementing SSIP scheme to make students self-reliant.
