The company recently launched its electric hatchback Tiago EV. There is a tremendous craze among customers regarding this. Its bookings started on Monday and stopped after looking at the company’s website. Later it was revised. The company claims that 10,000 units have been booked in 24 hours. Its starting price starts from Rs 8.49 lakh. But now Tata may face a tough challenge in the electric car segment. The reason for this is that BYD, a Chinese company that manufactures electric cars, has launched its first electric car in the country in India. American veteran investor Warren Buffet has invested in this company.

India is the fourth largest car market in the world and Tata Motors currently dominates the electric car market. The Chinese company is selling electric cars and plug-in electric hybrids in many countries around the world. These include Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, Costa Rica and Colombia.

BYD announced earlier this year that it will start selling passenger EVs in Japan in 2023. It also plans to set up a facility in Thailand to produce 150,000 cars by 2024. The company already has more than 30 facilities worldwide, including in the US, India and Brazil. The company launched the Atto 3 electric SUV in Thailand on Monday. According to sources, the company will assemble the car in India and for this it does not require any new investment.
This Shenzhen-based auto and battery maker entered India in 2007. The company’s plant is near Chennai. Initially it made batteries and components for mobile phones. In 2013 it started manufacturing buses in the country in collaboration with local partners. Launched e6 EV for corporate fleet operators in 2021. The company’s plant in India can assemble 10,000 cars annually. The company will assemble the Atto 3 at this plant. The company has not yet revealed its price.
