Gifting of other branded items instead of traditional sweets has increased in the country this Diwali. This time in Diwali, traditional sweets accounted for 20% while 15% of the orders came from personalized gift items. Talking about the big change in the shopping trend, this time the sale of perfume has doubled compared to last time. Along with this, the demand for things like digital painting and personalized caricature was also seen. This time branded goods were sold more in gifting and people’s attitude towards good packaging goods increased.
In the last few years, the total sales in Tier 1 and Tier 2, Tier 3 cities have increased due to rapid increase in smartphone users, internet connection, increasing purchasing power of people and increased delivery capacity in smaller cities. The company’s shareholding was exactly 50-50% which was 70-30% till two years ago. This time the trend of family gifting has also increased and along with it the average price of a gift basket has also increased by around 50 to 70 percent. Till last year where its average price ranged from Rs 800-1000. This time it has increased to 1300-1500 rupees.
Corporate companies are also giving gifts openly
People placed gift orders ranging from Rs.200 to Rs.20,000 on Vinny’s platform. This year the trend of corporate gifting has also seen a change. Earlier where most of the companies used to gift their employees with low cost items now they don’t hesitate to give expensive items. Online gift giving craze has increased
According to the Winnie Report, which assesses shopping trends starting around 10 days before Diwali, 60% of people who order gifts online are in the 20-45 age group. Looking at this year’s gifting trends, people ordered the highest number of chocolates i.e. 40% of the total, with sugar free and dry fruit chocolates being the highest. After this, the most gifted item is the plant. Plants account for 25% of total online gifting purchases.
