New Delhi: Tata Airbus has been entrusted with the responsibility of manufacturing the C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force. The company will manufacture the aircraft at its Vadodara plant. This information was given by army officials. A Defense Ministry official said that it will be one of the completely indigenous ones. The aircraft made in India will be supplied from 2026 to 2031. The first 16 aircraft will arrive between 2023 and 2025. The Indian Air Force would eventually become the largest operator of the C-295 transport aircraft.
The Defense Secretary said there is no ban on imports. The policy is that what can happen in India will happen here. Vigorous efforts are being made to promote Make in India for the defense forces. Operational readiness is not compromised and operational readiness is at the forefront of our minds. According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of this plant to be built in Vadodara, Gujarat on October 30. Sufficient preparations have been made at Vadodara regarding this program. The Indian Air Force is also very excited about this project.

Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar said that a plant to manufacture Airbus C-295 transport aircraft is going to be set up in Gujarat’s Vadodara. According to the officials, the Bhoomi Poojan of this plant will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 30. Kumar said that, for the first time, an agreement worth around Rs 21,000 crore has been signed with Defense and Space. In which 56 C-295 transport aircraft were purchased to replace the old Avro-748 aircraft of the Indian Air Force. In which, for the first time in India, a private company is involved in the production of military aircraft.
Under the agreement, Airbus will deliver the first 16 aircraft in fly-away condition from its last assembly line in Seville, Spain within four years, followed by 40 aircraft to be manufactured and assembled by Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) in India. The project will be completed as part of an industrial partnership between the two companies.
