New Delhi: Our Indian Railways, which has set a new record in freight traffic, has now started making new designs of wagons and repairing the infrastructure. Due to this decision of the Railways, the transportation cost of the automakers will be almost halved, on the other hand, the business will get a new speed by transporting twice as many cars as the Railways. So, especially Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) tax will also be taken now.
A drastic change in the design of wagon coaches
This has been made possible by a drastic change in the design of the wagon coaches by the railways. According to information received from reliable sources, the new wagons of the railways will be longer in size than before. Due to which more cars and especially SUVs will be transported in a single freight train. The existing double decker wagons are small in size, so that cars cannot be transported in both decks. The height of the new wagon being designed will be higher. In this, the SUV will be transported in both upper and lower decks. The new wagon will be able to carry twice as much SUV as the current one.
Railways also use double decker wagons
A change in the design of the wagon was demanded by the vehicle manufacturers for a long time. Because it will reduce the transportation cost of the SUV by half. At present railways use new modified goods wagons. Its design is similar to regular passenger trains. It can carry 3-4 vehicles in one wagon depending on the length of the vehicle. Railways also use double decker wagons.
Target to transport 300 million tonnes by 2027
Regarding this decision, Indian Railways sources further said that the new wagon is being prepared as a prototype and is being tested. The second design is yet to be finalised, after which the wagon will be manufactured and tested according to usage. With the new design, the railways has set a target of transporting 300 million tonnes by 2027. Which is double from 1,418 tonnes in 2021-22. With its use, a large portion of road transportation will go to the account of railways. Currently, the share of railways in the total PV traffic is 16 percent.
