New Delhi: Russia has welcomed India’s decision not to support G-7 countries and their allies to impose a price cap on Russian oil. Also, Putin’s government has praised India for this. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak made this statement during a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Russia Pawan Kapoor. The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed India’s decision not to support the imposition of a price cap on Russian oil announced by the G7 countries and their allies on December 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Let it be known that earlier in September, the G-7 countries agreed to impose a price limit on the import of oil from Russia.

According to information from sources, Novak said that Russia is fully responsible for its obligations to supply energy resources and export energy to the countries of the East-South amid the energy crisis. The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry has said that Russia’s oil import to India has increased to 16.35 million tonnes in the first eight months of the year 2022. It should be noted that despite the Russia-Ukraine war, India continued to import oil from Russia.
Russia is the second largest importer of oil to India
Let it be known that Russia was in the second position during the summer time in terms of importing oil supplies. Besides oil, supply of oil products and coal from Russia has also increased. Apart from this, during the meeting with Indian Ambassador Pawan Kapoor, Novak invited Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to participate in the international forum ‘Russian Energy Week 2023’.
