Vadodara: An amount of Rs 52,00,000 was seized from two bank accounts of Munaf, a former cricketer of Baroda, the original amount but the name of Munaf Patel, who started his cricket career by joining the Baroda Cricket Association, has started to be counted among the bad guys. The Baroda Cricket Association has done very well in international cricket but it has been revealed that it has violated the Rera Act in financial matters.
Due to which, UP RERA has taken immediate action against Munafpatel, two of his bank accounts have been seized and till the information is received, a sum of Rs 52 lakh has been recovered. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the two accounts when they are opened. A Gujarat friend tried to contact Munaf Patel but his phone kept switching off. On contacting BC Secretary, he was told that BC is not involved in Munaf Patel’s matter in any way, this matter is completely personal to Munaf Patel.
It is to be mentioned that apart from cricket, Munaf Patel is also involved in some other commercial activities. There is a builder company called Niwas Promoters Private Limited at Greater Noida in UP. Some projects are being completed by this company. In this company, Munaf Patel is holding the responsibility as a director. The builders of the company did not complete the work within the stipulated time limit so a representation was made in RERA by its clients. Instead, RERA approached the company’s builders to give them more time to complete the project but could not complete the work, leaving a total of 40 RCs of Rs 10 crore owed to its customers.
Which they were not paying so the Uttar Pradesh Land Resources Regulatory Authority i.e. RERA decided to recover this amount from the directors of the company under which Munaf Patel’s two accounts in Axis Bank were seized and an amount of about Rs 52 lakhs was seized. Action was taken in this matter and the action is still going on. It will not be surprising if there are other revelations. It should be mentioned that cricketers earn a lot of money from cricket but in the past some cricketers were also involved in match-fixing cases, some of whom were also prosecuted and by BCCI. Cricketers were banned from playing matches including former cricketer Azharuddin.
